We have been running our Japanese Sweets (Wa-gashi) shop in Shin-Machi Shopping Area for 122 years succeeded by five generations. An (red bean paste) recipe which we have inherited from the first generation is fully homemade with Azuki beans grown in Tokachi Hokkaido.
“Usukawa Manju (thin skin coating bun)” has been our specialty since the first generation. Azuki beans are carefully processed to make sweet deep flavor An with minimum amount of sugar and no additives. It is a kind of unbaked sweet, so must be eaten fresh.
This sweets appear in a song called “Rappa-bushi” which was popular over a hundred years ago.
