A ritual event to pray for safe voyage and rich hauls is held on the 10th of January according to the lunar calendar. At the end of ceremonial sequence a figure of Ebisu, the god of shipping and fishing, is thrown to the sea. Then young fishermen who came back to the port by the trawl boat that arrived earlier than other boats jump into the sea to catch the figure to purify it with the sea water and then bring it back to the shrine.
